The excitement builds throughout the day as you travel towards this historic volcano, made famous by its recent eruption. For more than a hundred years, Mt. St. Helens sat dormant and peaceful, but on May 18, 1980, the slumbering volcano exploded to life, spewing a massive cloud of ash and steam more than 10 miles high and triggering the largest landslide in recorded history.
Of all the mountains that surround Seattle, Mount Rainier stands boldest. On clear days, you can see the mountain from downtown, but to grasp its full beauty, you must see it up close.
The Quinault Rainforest located in the Olympic National Park is truly a unique destination. Classified as a Temperate Rainforest it receives on average 12 - 14 FEET of rain a year and contains over 500 tons of living biomass per square acre, which is more than any other ecosystem on earth. Individual travelers will only be able to pick-up this tour from the Lake Quinault Area. This tour will not pick-up from Seattle or Ocean Shores. This tour is also available for a private tour for groups of 5 or more - departing from Seattle..
Immerse yourself in Northwest Native American culture. A relaxing boat ride transports you from Seattle's Pier 55 to Blake Island where you feast on an appetizer of steamed clams, followed by salmon cooked on cedar stakes over an open fire. Enjoy your meal at a shared table in a traditional cedar longhouse, surrounded by Northwest Coast native crafts and artwork. Transportation from the Gray Line desk is not included. Tour departs from Pier 55 on the Seattle Waterfront.
If you want to get out of the city and experience nature and the finer things in life then this tour is for you. Sample wines, picnic under the sun, and enjoy the secinic rolling hills of Washington.
