You and our expert naturalist guide will explore some of THE most beautiful coastlines in the Pacific Northwest. See Bald Eagle, Seals, Tide Pools, Great Blue Heron, River Otter, Kelp Forests, wild mink, shorelines trimmed with Madrone trees, black tail deer, Sea Lion and rafts of sea birds including Black Oyster Catcher, Harlequin Duck, Double-crested Cormorant, Pelagic Cormorant, Brandts Cormorant, Glaucous-winged Gull, Common Murre, Pigeon Guillemot, Rhinoceros Auklet and Belted Kingfisher.

Many of our guests that come out on this tour have not been in a kayak before. So if you have never been in a kayak - don't let that stop you from having this great experience. We really do make it safe and easy to learn, enjoy and become a paddler. You will be wishing you had tried sea kayaking sooner!

No wading into the water as the specially designed kayak docks allow for easy entry and exit and no time wasted loading and unloading kayaks.

Never more than 10 guests, and often less, you will receive maximum personalized attention as you leisurely glide along. We like to call these kayak tours a friendly paddle as the tour only goes as fast as the slowest kayak. Everyone will be able to see and chat about what interests them.

Depending on the currents, wind, and tide exchange your guide may choose to hug the coastline (Coastlines have the most abundance of wild life) and go to the north or go out of the harbor directly southeast towards Brown Island hugging the coast to Turn Island State Park. San Juan Island has scenic coastlines and abundant wildlife in its waters. San Juan Safaris, because of their exclusive launching rights in Friday Harbor is able to offer you the easiest and fastest approach to these seas.

Not only is this tour educational and great exercise, it is FUN!

Departure Point:

Tours depart from Friday Harbor right next to the ferry

The center is located on the North West side of San Juan Island at Roche Harbor.

Passengers should meet at this address 15 minutes prior to departure.

Ferries are available from Seattle, to San Juan Island. The ferry (owned by Victoria Clipper) lands in Friday Harbor, which is on the east side of San Juan Island. The ferry ride from Seattle to San Juan Island (Friday Harbor) is approximately 3.5 hours.

In our opinion, you do not need to bring your car across. If you are taking a tour from Roche Harbor, just ask us about the FREE shuttle. There are many ways of getting around San Juan Island. The small town of Friday Harbor is accessible just by walking. It is only about 4 blocks X 4 blocks. There are also bicycles, mopeds and scoot cars for rent right near the ferry landing, plus the shuttle bus.

Confirmation & Travel Voucher

For every confirmed booking you will receive an e-mail with a link to your E-Ticket Voucher. Print vouchers on your home/ office printer. Please present this E-Ticket voucher at the Box Office. Only one voucher will be created per tour or activity for all travelers.

This tour must be booked at least 48 hours in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12- 24 hours subject to availability.

Cancellation and No Show Policy

Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 24 hours are charged a minimum $10.00 per person administration fee. We charge for NO SHOWS. No Shows on tour dates are charged 100%. Some specific tours and activities have a higher cancellation fee due to the limited space available.

Recommended for all tours in SEATTLE: Comfortable shoes, extra layer of warm clothing, hats, visors and sunglasses.

Weather: Tour route or activity may be changed depending on local weather conditions.

Meals, Gratuities and Souvenirs are not included.
