Beautiful scenery, a sprinkling of whitewater, and just over two hours north of Seattle - what more could you ask for? The upper section of the Skagit River offers a beautiful float combined with class 2 to 3 whitewater rafting. Views of the cascades and gem-colored water complete the trip. A perfect beginner or family trip or for those just looking for a fun way to spend the day.
We meet at our private getaway property on the side of the Skagit River. Here you'll get your gear (wetsuit, neoprene booties, lifejacket, and optional splash jacket) and enjoy a light snack lunch. Then we head up to Goodell Creek where our trip begins. For the first half of the trip you'll enjoy the beauty of the Northwest as you float down the river with views of the North Cascades and wildlife on the banks - watch for beavers, deer, and waterfowl of all kinds. We'll enjoy water fighting, games, and maybe even go for a swim.
©2006 Amber PalmerThe occasional class 2 rapid along the way adds excitement and plenty of time to prepare for the challenge of the day, the "S-Curves," a series of three class 3 rapids, the whitewater highlight of the day. Then we'll continue on the second half of the trip with more floating, playing, and the occasional class 2 rapid. At the end of our journey, we'll pull into the Ranch for a well-earned steak BBQ (and GARDEN BURGERS for the veggies).

©2006 Amber PalmerRiver Classifications
River classification means the degree of difficulty of rafting the river. The higher the rating, the more obstacles (such as rocks and trees) are in the river. It does not mean the higher the waves. The Wenatchee and the Methow rivers are only class 3 but have the tallest rapids in the state.
